Covid19 is getting more and more serious on a daily basis. Businesses are closing for an indeterminate period. Some, however, can’t. Consequently, the wearing of gloves, introduction of Perspex screens, and promotion of hand-hygiene is becoming common.
At a comparatively early stage of the Covid19 pandemic, we started implementing rules for keeping our staff safe in the factory and offices. We developed masks that use multiple layers of our fabrics.
They have two purposes:
To catch any coughs or sneezes, and any other droplets that leave our mouths.
To reduce hand to face contact.
Several local businesses got in touch about our masks, after seeing them. Then with the government’s call to do whatever it takes to help and make people’s lives better, we started selling them to both the public, and to businesses.
It is not an N95 mask. It won’t stop you getting Covid19, but it will reduce the risk of spreading it. If we protect everyone, we end up well protected ourselves. It takes no resources away from our health services who depend on high quality PPE.
You’ll still need to wash your hands thoroughly and use sanitiser. But, when you find yourself unexpectedly in a crowd or having to work at closer quarters than you would like, a washable mask brings some peace of mind. They fold and pop in your pocket or handbag ready for when you would like to use them.
Why would you wear a fabric mask?
Masks are, admittedly, more common in Asian countries when pollen or dust levels are high. However, there are plenty of uses for them that make them valid for use anywhere;
They can be worn in cold weather to keep warm.
To prevent liquid splashes entering your mouth or nose.
To act as a physical barrier, reducing hand to face contact.
To catch coughs and sneezes to prevent spreading the cold, etc.
Our masks are made from natural flax linen, which give them extra features over other masks. These masks will not filter the air you breathe, as only N95 (FFP2, KN95) or N99 (FFP3, KN99), masks perform this function. However they are;
Gentle on skin
With an outer layer made of an Irish Linen fusion fabric that is colourful and durable. We have lined them with 100% pure Irish Linen. It is held in place by 2 elastic straps which are easy to replace if they get damaged. This makes them machine washable, and strong enough to stand up to regular use.
All the masks are the same design, covering under the chin slightly, and up over the nose, with a vertical seam down the centre. This design proved the best and most comfortable fit.
